ICCPB 2015 update information from iccpb2015@uj.edu.pl

Dear Colleagues – IACPB members and supporters,

I am pleased to inform that preparations for the upcoming ICCPB in Kraków go now relatively smoothly. Please, visit the conference website forcurrent information about the symposia program, tentative schedule, etc. (www.iccpb2015.confer.uj.edu.pl).

However, for the success we still need your support in distributing information about the conference, both among prospective participants and sponsors/exhibitors. We would be very grateful for distributing the letter (below) together with he attached pdfs with a flyer, a poster and an offer for exhibitors/sponsors among the members of your societies and your colleagues.

Also, we would be grateful for placing information about the conference on the societies websites among the upcoming meetings. I am very grateful to Japanese Society for CPB, which has placed a detailed information about the conference on its website. Not just a link to ICCPB site, but a whole page with information about the deadlines, symposia authorized by JSCPB, a copy of our previous circular, etc. Thanks again. I have also found a note about ICCPB among upcoming meetings on the webpages of APS and of SEB (but here without a link to our website). Perhaps there are also notes on other sites, but I just missed that information.

We still straggle with getting financial support that would allow to offer more fee waivers to the speakers or travel grants to young students.

SICPB/CPB has offered a support for one of the symposia (#20), organized by my Polish colleagues from Torun. I am grateful for that, and we recognize that in the symposium description on www. I know also that JSCPB, and perhaps also some other societies, sponsor travel or pay the conference fees for some of the delegates, but I do not know details. I would be happy to recognized such a support in the symposia descriptions, to distinguished that from a situation, when a society just approved a symposia proposal (so its name appears near the title), but has not in fact provided any financial support to the session organizers or speakers.

I am also grateful for Theodore Garland, Editor of Physiol. Biochem. Zool. for offering a possibility of publishing a special issue with post-conference papers from some symposia and to PBZ publisher for offering a grant to support young researchers. Later we have got a similar proposal from the Journal of Neuroendoctrinology, which proposed to publishe papers from symposium 21 (Seasonal Control of Mammalian Energy Balance) and support financially its speakers. We will soon discuss details and provide appropriate information on the website.

We have many symposia and I hope that we can still get similar support from other journals. I plan to enquire CPB, JExpB, JThermalBiol, JBiolRhythms, perhaps others. I would be grateful if you or your societies could help in that action.

Please, let me know if you have any comments or suggestions of actions we should take to ensure success of the conference.

Finally, at some point we should have to come back to the discussion of the future of ICCPBs. However, I think the discussion will be more productive when we have hard data (number of participants) on what is the real interest in continuing the ICCPB series.
